Urdu Text (Orthography) گھبراۓ گی زینب، گھبراۓ گی زینب بھیا تمہیں گھر جا کے کہاں پاۓ گی زینب کیسا یہ بھرا گھر ہوا برباد الہی کیا آئی تباہی، اب اس کو نہ آباد کبھی پاۓ گی زینب گھبراۓ گی زینب، گھبراۓ گی زینب گھر جا کے کسے دیکھے گی؟ قاسم ہیں نہ عباس اکبر سے بھی ہے آس، اپنے علی اصغر کو کہاں پاۓ گی زینب پوچھیں گے جو سب لوگ کہ بازو پہ ہوا کیا یہ نیل ہے کیسا؟ کس کس کو نشاں رسّی کے دکھلاۓ گی زینب پھٹ جاۓ گا بس دیکھتے ہی گھر کو کلیجہ یاد آؤ گے بھیا، دل ڈھونڈے گا تم کو تو کہاں پاۓ گی زینب بے پردہ ہوئی، قید بھی خواہر نے اٹھائی پر موت نہ آئی، کیا جانیے کیا کیا ابھی دکھ پاۓ گی زینب گھبراۓ گی زینب، گھبراۓ گی زینب "Ghabraey gi Zainab" 📜 Literal Translation Ghabraey gi Zainab, ghabraey gi Zainab Zainab will be distraught, Zainab will be distraught. Bhaiya tumhein ghar ja ke kahaan paey gi Zainab Where, upon returning home, will Zainab find you, O brother? Kaisa ye bhara ghar hua barbaad, Ilahi How has this once-full house been destroyed, O God? Kya aai tabaahi, ab is ko na aabaad kabhi paey gi Zainab What destruction has come! Now Zainab will never find this house inhabited again. Ghar ja ke kise dekhe gi? Qasim hain na Abbas Upon reaching home, whom will she see? Neither Qasim nor Abbas is there. Akbar se bhi hai aas, apne Ali Asghar ko kahaan paey gi Zainab She still has hope for Akbar — where will she find her Ali Asghar? Poochhein ge jo sab log ke baazu pe hua kya When all the people ask, "What happened to your arm?" Yeh neel hai kaisa? Kis kis ko nishaan rassi ke dikhlaey gi Zainab What is this bruise? To whom will Zainab show the marks of the rope? Phat jaega bas dekh-te hi ghar ko kaleja The heart will burst just upon seeing the house. Yaad aao ge bhaiya, dil dhoonde ga tum ko to kahaan paey gi Zainab You will be remembered, brother — but when the heart searches for you, where will Zainab find you? Be-parda hui, qaid bhi khaahar ne uthaai She was unveiled, and (Zainab) the sister bore the chains as well. Par maut na aai, kya jaaniye kya kya abhi dukh paey gi Zainab But death did not come — who knows what more sorrows Zainab will yet endure? Ghabraey gi Zainab, ghabraey gi Zainab Zainab will be distraught, Zainab will be distraught. Note: The poet is Channu Lal Dilgeer (also known as Channu bhai, Chunnoo Lal, or Munshi Channu Lal) was a renowned 19th-century Urdu marsiya (elegy) poet from Lucknow, India, celebrated for his profound devotion to Imam Hussain and the tragedy of Karbala. Although born a Hindu (a Khatri/Mohyal Brahmin by some accounts), he was deeply moved by the sacrifice at Karbala and later converted to Shia Islam, adopting the name Ghulam Hussain.
